Halyard is a sustainable venture dedicated to repurposing decommissioned sails into durable, functional products. By diverting sail material that does not break down easily from landfills, we give them a second life.
Built for function, designed to last, and made with purpose.
We are rooted in the principles of the circular economy, and operate on a low-waste, high-impact model by sourcing discarded sails. We aim to maximize the sail for product use. Each sail is unique requiring a lens of looking at the sail carefully and determine how to best re-use and re-create that sail.
Halyard – Sail Circularity Studio is more than products - it’s a story of transformation.
Each sail has been on a journey, its carried its passengers and created memories. We aim to continue those memories to functional products that come with us in everyday life.
We create products with the whole sail in mind.
-
Sails are made from synthetic materials - often Nylon or Dacron - which make them durable, and well protected against UV aspects. Ultimately the disposal options - are few and far between - which can lead to sails ending up in a landfill.
-
Sails are all different in feel and look - we aim to evaluate the sail - and link together adequate functionality of the material in a product - that supports its intended use. Aiming to create a cycle of the material that we can feel good about. Meet Product 1 - Functional Bucket Bag.
-
We hope to further create a space for exploration of how we can utilize this material in a way that is functional and supports everyday life uses. Explore with us!
